It has been a great year for players so far, with the best games of 2018 providing plenty of thrills and spills across console and PC. And the rest of the year looks just as exciting, with a terrific looking lineup of new games. Here we will run down the games we are most looking forward to for each month and make sure you are well prepared with each release date.

Overcooked! 2

We are delighted that a sequel to Overcooked, the chaotic, culinary co-op adventure, is almost out of the oven. The original was one of the most hilarious and thrilling couch co-op game of recent years, as toy-like chefs zipped around increasingly elaborate kitchens chopping, cooking and trying not to set everything on fire, while its players squirmed, yelled and tried not to fall out. Overcooked 2 looks like a sequel with all the trimmings; more recipes, more elaborate dynamic stages and the chance to take it all online.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season

Telltale’s original adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel was the moment Telltale announced itself as one of gaming’s premier storytellers. It has been several years and four series since then and hero Clementine is all grown up. Hardened by her experiences, wherever the Final Season takes here you can expect Telltale’s bleak narrative and often powerful moral quandaries. It is the end of an era in more ways than one, as this is also expected to be the last game run by the now ubiquitous Telltale Tool engine.
State of Mind

This story-driven cyberpunk thriller delves into transhumanism as you play journalist Richard Nolan searching for his missing family in Berlin, 2048. Splitting your time between the real-world Dystopia and virtual Utopia, piecing together clues from both will be key in Richard’s search. State of Mind’s angular, low-poly looks are gorgeous and arresting, while its neo-noir mysteries look well worth unraveling.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

This is for those players hungry for more following the success of Monster Hunter: World or those that didn’t get the chance to play Capcom’s reinvention of its famous RPG series. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is a shiny Switch upgrade to 2016’s brilliant Monster Hunter Generations for 3DS. It plays more like the traditional ‘MonHun’ fans are used to, with all the idiosyncracies that entails, but our original review called it the ‘pinnacle of the series’. Indeed, Generations is like a Monster Hunter greatest hits package with a huge range of weaponry, prey and styles. Definitely a handheld package worth getting your teeth into.
Strange Brigade

Strange Brigade is Sniper Elite developer Rebellion’s rambunctious co-op shooter that is straight out of the pages of a 1930s British adventure book. You take control of one of the titular Strange Brigade, intrepid explorers such as a Maasai warrior, Oxford scholar or bolshy mechanic with a shotgun. Each has their own skills as you journey to the most uncharted corners of the British Empire circa the 1930s. It is funny, fast-paced and a lot of fun as you charge around exploring sun-baked ruins and give mummies a jolly good thrashing.
